ClearDefense Sensitivity Protection

Demineralized, hypersensitive dentin treated with Young ClearDefense to reduce hypersensitivity results in minimal discoloration after applications.1
Case Study: A male patient in his 30s, with a history of long-term heavy chewing tobacco use, presented with advanced gingival recession and soft, tacky dentin in affected areas. Despite being recommended for gingival grafting, the patient declined the procedure. To manage dentin hypersensitivity and help preserve the exposed tooth structure, Young ClearDefense was applied as an interim solution while awaiting the patient’s potential agreement to future grafting.

1. In lab settings, demineralized dentin treated with Young ClearDefense results in minimal discoloration. Young ClearDefense is indicated for the treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity in adults. Product may discolor tooth structure depending on the level of compromised dentin. In similar in vitro studies, 38% SDF when combined with Potassium Iodide can also reduce or minimize discoloration of tooth structure.
2. Chitosan is a natural biopolymer, derived from the cells walls of mushrooms. Our chitosan is produced through a process of deacetylating chitin, an essential structural component of cell walls. It is a polysaccharide like cellulose and is highly biocompatible, safe, and non-toxic. Some chitosan is derived from shellfish. The chitosan in Young ClearDefense is vegetally sourced and does not contain shellfish or shellfish derivatives.
