About Dr. Geissberger

Dr. Marc Geissberger taught at University of the Pacific for 30 years and ran Pacific’s prestigious complex and esthetic rehabilitation program. He is also a researcher and a published author in the areas of dental materials, contemporary fixed prosthodontics, and esthetic dentistry. He serves as a consultant for many dental materials companies and helps guide product development.

During his 30 years in academia, he has maintained a private practice geared toward restorative dentistry with his brother and fellow Pacific alum Dr. Jeffrey Geissberger. He believes his continual involvement in providing patient care as well as a role in academia has given him a unique balance that allows him to blend the best of both worlds.

Dr. Geissberger is a member of the Catapult Education Speakers Bureau, has won several teaching awards, and has presented over 450 lectures and hands-on workshops to colleagues in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, China, Peru, Denmark, and Taiwan. He has co-authored and published numerous scientific papers and a textbook entitled Esthetic Dentistry in Clinical Practice for Wiley-Blackwell which is currently available in 4 languages (English, Spanish, Polish, and Turkish).

Dr. Geissberger earned a master’s degree in educational psychology in 1994 and has been a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) with the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2008. He completed his Fitness Nutrition Specialty (FNS) training in 2011.

Dr. Geissberger’s goal is to provide an educational experience for your group in a non-intimidating format that focuses on providing the clinician with the latest techniques and information that can be immediately incorporated into everyday practice. Presentations tend to be rich in information and Dr. Geissberger pledges to both entertain and educate simultaneously. Many disease processes can cause the loss of vertical dimension of occlusion. Attrition, Germ, Bulimia, Bruxism, and Acid Erosion can all contribute to the process. Identifying and treating the condition requires proper diagnosis, jaw positioning and case design. This program will give a brief overview of a number of techniques and materials that can be used to restore vertical dimension. A step-by-step process of restore vertical dimension will be outlined and discussed. The Whitening Craze continues. What materials will you advocate for your patients? Should practitioners offer a variety of options to their patients? This program will attempt to make sense of all of the products and techniques available in today’s marketplace. The lecture will focus on materials and their applications as well as cost analysis of various systems. Laser bleaching, light assisted bleaching, power bleaching, over the counter bleaching, take-home bleaching and other systems will be discussed at length. Strategies on how to increase the whitening component of private practice will be discussed.

During this program practitioners will:
  • Understand the differences between over the counter bleaching products and dentist dispensed products
  • Be able to weigh the pros and cons of in office whitening vs. home whitening
  • Garner a better understanding of the effectiveness of all whitening techniques

Digital vs. Conventional Impressions: Pitfalls, Pain Points and Pluses

Well-fitting indirect restorations rely on a flawless impression. Reports from laboratory technicians indicate that some 68% of conventional impressions submitted to laboratories have flaws that would potentially compromise the final results of the restoration.  This program will focus on proper impression techniques for both conventional and digital impressions. Emphasis will be placed on outlining proper techniques for capturing flawless impressions with both conventional and digital techniques. Particular emphasis will be placed on incorporating digital impression technology into practice for all forms of restorative dentistry from single units to multiple restorations. The use of digital impression technology for clear aligner orthodontics will also be discussed.
