About the Course

Course Contents

Course Description

Advances in dental materials and technology have introduced new approaches to minimally invasive and bioactive dentistry. These innovations may help support tooth structure, reduce restorative complications, and promote patient-centered care. In addition, emerging perspectives on periodontal disease highlight its role as a chronic inflammatory condition with potential systemic implications.

This course will review minimally invasive restorative techniques, the use of bioactive materials, and non-invasive periodontal interventions to support both oral and overall health. Simple non-invasive perio techniques can promote healing and keep patients in the practice. Proactive Intervention Dentistry is dentistry with both the patient and dentist in mind.

Learning Topics

  • Describe the concept of Proactive Intervention Dentistry
  • Incorporate the minimally invasive “Perimeter Prep” and other simple predictable patient friendly techniques for operative success with flowables
  • Discuss the use of bioactive materials in strengthening tooth structure and reducing restorative complications
  • Explain the relationship between periodontal disease, systemic inflammation, and aging-related conditions
  • Identify non-invasive periodontal techniques that may promote healing and improve patient retention
