Meet the instructor
Jessica Woods, MPH, RDH
Jessica L Woods, MPH, RDH has spent the last two decades as a clinician, speaker, mentor, and public health advocate. She received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from West Coast University and master’s degree in Public Health from A.T. Still University. She received the Outstanding Student Service Award for her contributions to the field of public health during her time as a student. She is also a past President of the Nevada Dental Hygienists’ Association, recognized as an Oral Health Champion, and the recipient of the Nevada Dental Hygienist of the Year Award for advocacy efforts in expanding opportunities for dental hygienists.
Prior to becoming a dental hygienist, Jessica practiced as a Registered Dental Assistant in various areas of specialty, including as a certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistant. She is currently the Clinical Affairs Manager at Implant Direct and consults as key expert for public health programs across the country. She is a nationally recognized speaker, staying on the cutting edge of topics ranging from implant dentistry, public health practice, and mental wellness. Most notably, she is an ardent mentor.
She has a strong passion for introducing others to the field and supporting them as they grow in the profession. She established the Nevada Public Dental Hygienists Collaborative which offers post-graduate training and a mentorship network to currently practicing and prospective public health dental hygienists and students. Additionally, she has traveled as far as Sri Lanka to provide mentorship, delivering much needed dental care to remote areas of the country and mentoring young women to become dental assistants to help improve their socio-economic status and quality of life.
