About the Course

Course Contents

Course Description

Clinical documentation consumes hours of provider and hygienist time each week, often after hours. This course explores the emerging category of AI-powered, hands-free documentation. Participants will examine how ambient AI technologies generate clinical notes during patient interactions and integrate into existing clinical workflows - with no dictation or additional charting required.

The course will also explore next-generation AI-driven periodontal charting, including workflow efficiencies, multilingual capabilities, and comparisons with traditional voice-command systems. Attendees will learn how these technologies work, where they fit in clinical workflows, and how hands-free documentation may support patient education, treatment acceptance, and more complete clinical documentation.

Learning Objectives

  • Differentiate between ambient AI documentation and voice-command charting technologies, and identify the clinical workflows each is designed to support
  • Evaluate AI documentation tools based on note accuracy, periodontal charting capabilities, HIPAA compliance, and clinical documentation considerations
  • Identify strategies for implementing hands-free documentation into hygiene and restorative workflows with minimal disruption
